SICA is the Southern Chapter of Indian Federation of Culinary Associations
IFCA is the Nodal body of the culinary professionals of India.
IFCA is the proud member of WACS the Global Culinary Apex Body
The SICA - South India Culinary Association was founded in August 1998 in Chennai by the chefs of various renowned hotels. SICA is an independent, apolitical and voluntary forum of culinary professionals. It has over 3000 members (part of 5000 members of the IFCA) and is growing rapidly. SICA is registered under the Tamil Nadu Associations act registered no. 391. SICA is a non-profitable professional body of culinary professionals from varied backgrounds and specialties.
We have successfully launched the IFCA Indian Federation of Culinary Associations. The professional body has been officially installed by the Honorable minister of Tourism at the IFCA launch ceremony held in New Delhi. The Minister of Tourism, Government of India, recognizes IFCA as the professional body.
In one of the landmark developments IFCA has been successfully admitted in the WACS World association of Cooks societies as the National member during the 31st World congress held at Dublin, Ireland.
The junior members of SICA will be automatically considered as the member of IFCA and also the World Association of Cooks Societies all participation will be recognized globally.
The Main Objectives of the SICA are:
To raise the standards of Culinary Trade.
To develop the art of fine cooking.
To promote local cuisine.
To promote goodwill and to contribute to the welfare of society.
To promote friendship, exchange of ideas, and mutual cooperation among like-minded culinary professionals.
The SICA has always been actively involved in upholding the general interests of the profession, building closer bonds between professionals and setting high ethical standards.
SICA has successfully conducted the following events
- Culinary contests consecutively for the last three years.
- Charity Event - "Chef & Child"
- SICA Golden Hat awards
- Played an important role in the IFCA first National Culinary congress
- Participated in the WACS 31st World Congress
This has helped the profession with great Zeal
New Membership
We are inviting the following category of culinary professionals to join as the members of SICA Junior Forum (The junior forum members of SICA will automatically be considered as members of IFCA and there by there will be members of WACS.)
From the leading hotels and the restaurants and recognized culinary Institutions
Demi chef de partie Management trainees Kitchen Executive Trainees Equal or similar designations etc
From the Culinary / Catering / Hotel Management Institutions / Training and Educational establishments connected with culinary education
Second Year Students of the Diploma/ degree in Culinary arts/hotel Management/ catering Technology Who are planning to pursue their career in Culinary trade.
The new members who would like to entrol on the same day are requested to come with a passport size photograph and a cheque or a DD for Rs. 350 /- (Rupees three hundred fifty only)as a one time fee in favor of South India Culinary Association. Cash is not accepted).
The members of SICA as per the resolution of IFCA and WACS body automatically become the member of IFCA and WACS respectively
